Rocca (Justin da Rocha) & Martini (Keegan Martens) were born and raised in Johannesburg South Africa. The music bug had bitten them in their early ages of their lives by always being interested in the latest electronic music. As they reached the beginning stage of their teenage years, a passion ignited for the love and art of DJíng. It would not be extinguished as it just grew. Before wasting anymore time Justin & Keegan both took basic DJ lessons given by friends and mentors starting on 12″ vinyls, working up through to CDJ’s. All the knowledge they had received just flowed out their hands and throughout the speakers. They were solo acts until they met each other through mutual friends.
With separate music tastes and backgrounds, the respect between each other was immense. After deciding to join together in 2011 and form the name of Rocca & Martini (as known today) they had a sniff of individual success. Quoted ” I think we have made the right decision by forming together to create this group as we have brought each of our individual knowledge,
ideas and character to combine into one huge performance to give our fans double the music, double the show and double the euphoria.”
In their performances and shows, with a few live elements, they are able to incorporate live samples off two laptops, sample pads, midi keyboards, effect processors into their sets with occasionally a live vocalist performing with them. When they describe what to expect in their sets ”Its all about the experience we put on for our fans and the high fist pumping energy we create with the biggest Electronic Dance Music tracks of today, you can expect our own material in our sets as well with spot on mixing and extra effects leaving everyone on the dancefloor or even in their own personal space satisfied.”
Early in 2012 Justin & Keegan decided to take the next step in their career by starting to really concentrate on their own Productions in EDM music scene. Ranging from bootlegs, remixes, mash-ups to originals. As the studio time increased so did the quality of their productions landing a sponsorship with one of the best headphone companies, Aerial7 and a Local Apparel sponsorship by JuiceBOX (SA) is just the beginning of their rise. We can expect monthly podcasts, big A-List gigs coming up, music festivals and brand new sponsors. With age, determination, ability to adapt and knowledge on their side the future looks very bright.
