Settipalli Productions is the work of an upcoming university student, DJ and music enthusiast. Based in the UK, Kagenmi aims to provide you with the latest news, media and sounds from this growing artist.
Originally from the not so musically renowned city of Hyderabad in India, Settipalli Productions AKA Abhinay Settipalli AKA Abs moved to the UK at a young age. After discovering music technology and production during his teens he soon began a love affair with music which he began to expand upon after being accepted to study dentistry at the University of Leeds. The affair soon turned into a polygamous mashup marriage between whichever acapellas and instrumentals he could get his hungry hands on. This paved the way for the start of his DJ career.
After his first real attempt at producing – the ODDR2 EP, he was an instant hit with music blogs around the world and featured on the Hype Machine within three hours of release for his song ‘Ron Burgundy Is Beautiful’. His next and subsequent song “Kick Down On Me” received exponentially more praise from the critics and led to him being labelled as one to “[keep] a close eye on for sure” due to his totally unique mashups in a climate currently full of copy cat artists producing exactly the same thing time after time.
Starting his DJ career in the deep end by going straight into a nationwide club just a couple of months after buying his first set of decks, he cites local legends and personal heroes Daniel Hills and Phat DJ’s from Leeds, UK as the life altering inspiration for him to become a DJ and industry greats such as David Guetta, Avicii and more for his production obsessions.
With an ever increasing and global fan base he hopes 2012 to be his biggest and best year yet with his sights set on becoming just as big, if not bigger, than the DJ’s that inspired him to become one too. Mashing up house and dance into mainstream, he uses acapellas on two decks and instrumentals on another two. Yes, you read that right. Live. Four deck. Mashups. Enough said.
“It [buying his first decks] wasn’t to begin a career as a DJ, it was for me to just have fun and expand my passion for music.”
So if there’s one thing you do after reading this, make sure you never forget the name Settipalli Productions because he’ll be sure to keep your jaw on the floor with every new release.
